What should I expect?

Here’s a quick look at what to expect.  Usually we’ll start with a free fifteen minute phone consultation to get to know a little bit about you and your situation; some clients prefer to do this through email.  You can click the “Request an Appointment” button below to schedule this phone consultation. During this conversation, we’ll assess whether I’d be a good fit for you as a counselor.  We want you to get the help that is best for you...sometimes that’s working with us and sometimes it’s not and we’ll have that conversation to help you end up in the right spot.

Your first appointment

If we decide to meet, we’ll schedule our first 50-minute appointment at the office in Mason or via telehealth to get started.  We strive to create a peaceful environment and we will be a soft place for you to land. At this meeting, we’ll get to know each other a little, learn about your situation, and begin to set goals for therapy.  From there, usually in the second session, we’ll set a plan for how to best accomplish the goals we’ve set together. We will draw from a variety of evidence based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), talk therapy, EMDR trauma therapy, and others to create a tailored treatment plan.  We will typically meet weekly or bi-weekly for 50 minutes.
